The Indian Arts and Crafts Board (IACB) promotes the economic development of American Indians and Alaska Natives of federally recognized Tribes through the expansion of the Indian arts and crafts market. This art involves the use of different materials, such as clay, fiber, glass, metal, wood, etc. The annual Arts and Crafts Festival at the St. Augustine Beach Pier takes place on two weekends in the spring of 2019: Saturday and Sunday, February 16 – 17 and March 9 – 10, 2019.

Spa Workshop PJ Party offers a day of spa-themed crafts while enjoying cake, music and fun. Visitors will learn how the movement’s theorists and makers spread their ideas through books, retail showrooms and world’s fairs. Enjoy some of our holiday themed crafting sessions at Arts and Crafts.

The practitioners of the movement strongly believed that the connection forged between the artist and his work through handcraft was the key to producing both human fulfillment and beautiful items that would be useful on an everyday basis; as a result, Arts & Crafts artists are largely associated with the vast range of the decorative arts and architecture as opposed to the “high” arts of painting and sculpture.

Here you can enjoy Smoky Mountain folk art, quilting, and crafting homemade items, such as brooms, pottery, jewelry, dolls and more. Morris’s lectures and essays on art and his rediscovery of traditional craft techniques helped spread the movement, as did the decorative designs and products from his company: Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co.

Arts and Crafts objects were produced in all media: metalwork, ceramics, glass, textiles and furniture, while architecture typically provided the context within in which these objects were brought together.
